Random Jottings

OK, it's been a while...again. Sorry. AIM starting to realize just how difficult it is to plan a wedding, even a small one in Las Vegas with friends. On top of that, I'm planning two. So let's start with the first wedding and move on from there.

We are officially booked for wedding number 1. We have a hotel room, flights (with a First Class upgrade due to extra airline miles), a chapel, wedding rings and about 30 friends joining us in Las Vegas. That last part about the 30 friends is a bit of a surprise, we were trying to keep it small. Oh well, it will be fun if nothing else. One thing I have realized about moving and wedding is that they are expensive any way you slice it.

After moving this past September we have bills for a new couch, new coffee table, bookshelves, kitchen island and untold little items like towels, and curtains and shelves. Then there are the wedding bills - rings, flights, hotels, chapel fees, etc. I have been burning through money like crazy. So much so I have been a little scared about the status of wedding number 2. I need a custom dress, more flights, hotel room, photographers and so on. Luckily, I got a nice bonus at work so I felt a little bit better.

That's when a new wave of wedding one bills hit. We are paying for a couple of nieces to attend wedding number 1 so there were more flights and hotel bills. Then with 30 people we decided to get a mini bus to get them to and from the chapel since getting a taxi at a Las Vegas chapel is nearly impossible. Most chapels are located between the strip and downtown so no taxis ever pass by unless they are going from The Strip to Downtown or vice versa. Never in between the two.

Then I did my taxes and I am getting a little chunk back there so all said and done, I think I am good for funding on wedding number 2.

That's enough wedding on the April wedding. A couple of weeks past I had my girly weekend (see picture) and I had mentioned plucking my beard. It is a lengthy process, let me tell you, after about an hour I had maybe 1 square inch done on my chin. Sometimes it hurt a little bit but not too bad. To be perfectly honest, I didn't get much farther than that 1 square inch, because I wanted to get on with my dressing week. But, If I can come up with some sort of plan, the plucking thing worked like a dream. That little patch was so nice and clean, no little tiny whiskers, and I haven't had any issues with ingrown hairs. Even now, after 15 days, I only have about 5 black whisker and I'm starting to get a little other growth starting. This is something I really need to consider and work on a plan. It's just not fun to do and takes forever. But in the end the result would be fantastic.

I learned something else for the wedding too. I had my usually manicure and decided to go with a French manicure. When I explained this to my girlfriend she immediately said "I hate those," but over the top of the french manicure I had some transparent polish with a little bit of blue color to it and it really made for a nice formal finished look, even my girlfriend said she liked it. So that is what I will be wearing for the wedding.

I also decide on a little field trip. I don't get out a lot while dressed and I thought I would like to just suck it up and go somewhere while dressed...in the middle of the day. So I plucked up my courage, got dressed and visited The Smitten Kitten. It's a lesbian owned ex toy shop just outside of downtown, where all the alternative minded people hang out. I did a little browsing and asked some questions of the shop owners. It was surprisingly busy for a Thursday afternoon but I only got a couple of odd looks from a very young couple. All said and done I was proud I got out and now I feel like I can do it again come Halloween.

I will try to keep on the task at hand but things may be wedding 1 centric for a little while. I will try to keep you up on the crossdressing wedding too.

  1. Thank you for the update. I used to be scared and only went to the Castle Boutique when dressed. Now I go everywhere. I have even flow on airplanes. Good luck to you on your wedding(s). http://www.smittenkittenonline.com/ looks like a fun place.
