For almost a year I have done nothing more than talk about wedding plans. Today, I finally started making wedding plans. I have decided on a photographer for the October wedding. This was actually one of the more difficult roles to fill. I didn't want to bring on a photographer tied to a specific chapel, I wanted an independent. Second, while I have had my photo taken by a male photographer, I am actually more comfortable with a female photographer. Which leads to the third problem, are they comfortable with me?
Luckily photographers are generally the artsy types, so cross dressing isn't really an issue for most of them. I find that women, in general, are a little less forgiving than men. But the women who are fine with it are also more likely to really be OK with it. Also, the male photographers, enjoy their craft but I think are doing it more as a job. Please bear in mind this a broad generalization, I'm sure there are plenty of passionate male photographers. All said and done, I feel more comfortable with a woman.
I had two photographers in mind as I was heading out to Las Vegas for the marathon and the 2nd one decided to opt out due to it being on Halloween and her having a child she wanted to spend Halloween with. Which makes total sense to me. I have even discussed this with my bridesmaid so we can work it out so she has time to get home to her son after the wedding. I was happy to learn that during my interview with the other photographer, that she was genuinely excited about the project.
We spent about an hour discussing plans and prices and locations as well as going through a list of questions I had come up with on my own and from the wedding based community website. Wedding.com She was very personable and had good information on the chapels and their rules. I made sure to ask the rules during my chapel visits. Some allow outside photography (for a fee), some allow non SLR cameras only, and other don not allow any pictures on the grounds at all.
Anyways, I have been in contact with my photographer of choice and she has sent off contracts which I will be signing and placing a deposit with her for her services. I'm very excited.
Sorry for the short post but it is the Holidays and it been pretty busy. I should point out that we are well under one year away and the 300 day benchmark will be my next post.
Until then, Happy Holiday and may your own fairytale wedding dreams come true.
