Organization

I am a computer nerd by trade. But believe it or not I was never much for the whole blogging, Twitter, Facebook...thing. It's not that I didn't understand them, I just did that sort of thing every day. I sit at a computer all day long and I didn't want to do that once I got home too. The thing is, they are really very handy tools. So much so that I find myself with a blog to help organize my thoughts. A Twitter account to help share those thoughts with any who is interested. I don't have a Facebook account yet, at least not for my want-to-be a bride crossdressing self. But I did find another tool to help me to prepare for the big day.

I found myself with several long, work related conference calls this weekend. Many of the upgrades I do are done over the weekend or at night so the users are less affected by it. They can work during the day and come back the next day as though nothing ever happened but they can now work a little faster or more efficiently. This past weekend was one of those change weekends. Most of the stuff I need to do is sit around and listen for my name to make a quick update and then wait around some more while other people test things out. This means I have a lot of time that I need to fill while I am sitting at my computer. This past weekend I used that time to do a little dress shopping. I am looking to have my wedding dress custom made and I need ideas to show to my dress maker.

I found myself with a large number of photos littering my desktop as I dragged everything I liked over. Sunday was spent trying to organize those photos. One option would have been to put them in my Mac's iPhoto application. The problem there is sharing. I would need to print all those pictures out or have the seamstress or my girlfriend come to my PC to view them. I opted for another online tool called Flickr. I opened a He Is The Bride Flickr account.

I was able to build a number of sets, wedding dresses, jewelry, candid photos, posed photos, and bachelorette. I can pull the dresses set up when I talk to my seamstress, I can pull up the candid and posed photo sets up when I meet with my photographer. I'm sure most of you know how Flickr work, I am just surprised at how useful a tool it is for the prospective bride. I can also put tags in in case I want to search for posed photos that are couple based versus bride only based. It really is invaluable.

I will also be able to use it to share my photos of the wedding. If I am hiring a professional photographer I am certainly going to let the world see what all the fuss was about.

One quick not about the jewelry from my last post. I have discovered that buying extra links is really very difficult. I always seem to get the same answer which is "We might have an extra link lying around the store if someone has a link removed. we usually keep those." At this point it looks like I will need to buy two watches if I want to size it to my wrist. Secondly, most CZ rings are sized in whole sizes, naturally I am an 8.5. They are still around I just need to do some deeper looking. I hope to order my ring soon.

  1. I was happy to read a new post from you. Your excitement really shows through your writing. My cross-dressing guy gets the same excitement when we are talking about shopping. You have lots of fun things to shop for, best wishes.
